What's included on each chart
A multiplication chart prints the full times table with a shaded header row and column and a heavier rule separating them from the body, so a child can track a row and a column to the square where they meet. A 12x12 chart runs to 144 and a 10x10 chart to 100. A hundreds chart prints the numbers 1 to 100 in ten rows of ten with the multiples of ten tinted down the last column. The blank and partly filled versions add a name and date line at the top and a completed answer key on page two; a filled reference chart carries neither, because nobody hands it in. Whichever you choose, the grid is recalculated to fill the width of the page and almost all of its height, so the squares are as large as the paper allows.
Tips for using a multiplication chart
- Print the filled chart first and leave it out. A chart a child can look at freely stops multiplication feeling like a memory test and starts it feeling like a place where patterns live.
- Point out that the chart is symmetric across the diagonal. 6 × 9 and 9 × 6 land on the same 54, which cuts the number of separate facts to learn roughly in half — and it is far more convincing seen on the grid than stated as a rule.
- Colour in a row a week. The 3s, then the 4s, then the 6s: shading a row on the filled chart turns fact fluency into visible progress and shows exactly what is left.
- Use the partly filled chart before the blank one. A blank grid is a test; a chart with the hard facts missing is practice, and the gaps here are deliberately drawn from the products that are not 1s, 2s, 5s, or 10s.
- Time the blank chart rather than grading it. Filling a 12x12 grid from memory takes a fluent fourth grader a few minutes; the number worth tracking is whether that time is falling, not the score.
- On the hundreds chart, count down a column out loud. Every step down adds ten, which is the single most useful thing the chart teaches and the foundation of mental addition later — more strategies here.

Chart
A multiplication chart is the times-table grid: factors across the top and down the side, products in the body. A hundreds chart is the numbers 1 to 100 in ten rows of ten — the counting, skip-counting, and place-value chart used from kindergarten through second grade.
How much is filled in
Filled in prints every number: the reference chart. Blank prints the frame and leaves the body empty — on a multiplication chart the header row and column stay, because without them it would be a grid rather than a chart. Partly filled removes a share of the numbers, chosen so the gaps fall on the facts worth practising.
Table size
12 × 12 or 10 × 10, on the multiplication chart. A hundreds chart is always ten squares across, so the control is disabled for it.
How many gaps
Easy leaves about a quarter of the chart blank, medium about half, and hard about four fifths. Whichever you pick, the easiest facts are the last to go — the 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s on a multiplication chart, and the multiples of ten and five on a hundreds chart. The control applies only to the partly filled chart.

How do you read a multiplication chart?
Find one factor in the shaded top row and the other in the shaded left column, then follow the row and the column until they meet. The square where they cross is the product. Because multiplication is commutative, 7 across and 8 down gives the same 56 as 8 across and 7 down, which is worth pointing out — it halves the number of facts to learn.
Should I print a 10x10 or a 12x12 multiplication chart?
12x12 is the classroom standard in the US and UK and is what most curricula expect by the end of third or fourth grade, so it is the default here. 10x10 is a gentler starting point: it stops at the facts a child meets first, and the smaller grid means noticeably larger squares to write in.
Which facts does the partly filled chart leave blank?
The hard ones. The 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s are the facts almost every child already has automatically, so a chart that removed squares at random would spend most of the page on recall that is already fluent. The blanks are drawn from the products where neither factor is a 1, 2, 5, or 10 first, so practice lands on the residual facts that actually need work. On a hundreds chart the same rule keeps the multiples of ten and five as landmarks to count from.
What is a hundreds chart used for?
It lays the numbers 1 to 100 out in ten rows of ten, which turns counting into a picture. Children use it to count on and back, to skip count in twos, fives, and tens, to see that moving down a row adds ten, and to find the patterns behind odd and even numbers. The multiples of ten are tinted here so skip counting reads straight down the last column.
Will I get the same chart if I come back?
Yes. Each combination of chart, fill level, table size, and difficulty always generates exactly the same chart with exactly the same gaps, so you can print a class set today and another identical set next week. Change any of those settings and you get a genuinely different sheet.
What paper size does the chart print on?
